Points of Power by Yolanda Adams with Lavaille Lavette (Book Review)
I love to hear Yolanda Adams sing. Her songs give me strength to face another day. She is truly gifted in song worship. God has blessed her mightily because Yolanda writes with spiritual blessedness too. When I began to read this book, I felt in awe of the thirty-seven power points given by her in "Points of Power." Reading about Nelson Mandela's ability to forgive by word and deed put tears in my eyes. Robben Island is a place where Nelson Mandela suffered atrocious behavior from the guards.
This is why I loved her book. Yolanda Adams picked the perfect attributes as her "Points of Power." Her examples of Bible characters like Joseph, Rahab and Gideon or famous men and women we have known such as Martin Luther King Jr. and Gandhi are inspiring. To top it off Yolanda Adams reveals hard trials in her life. I could not help but feel the Godly compassion and empathy in every word I read in the book.
I especially loved Points of Prayer. I stumble through my prayers at times. With Yolanda's prayers at the end of each chapter I learned it is really possible to speak straight talk to our Creator and His Son without feeling like we need to have a dictionary to speak to the Almighty God. Plus, we don't have to pray forever and ever and ever. He really knows our needs before we begin to tell Him.
At the end of each chapter there are Power Passages, Prayer Points and ways to use love, faith, confession in our daily lives. I feel so blessed to have these thirty-seven points in a book here at home to read whenever I feel the desire or need. Yolanda Adams lives a Spirit-Filled life, and she wants to share those blessings with each person she can reach.
