Great words. I think I've seen refectory. I wonder why we don't use that? Maslin is entirely new to me--sounds yummy, actually.
Your words sound elegant but homey. I'll bet the book is good too.
Maslin is totally new to me - I would have guessed it was a fabric.
I'm like Kathy and would have thought it was a fabric : in French "mousseline", but why here ?
I knew refectory, like "réfectoire" in French with the same meaning !
