Mama Don't Like Ugly by Rekaya Gibson [Kindle Edition]

Dana is the baby born who is telling the story. Just think how it must feel to be a baby and understand all the e sights and sounds going around you. Dana already knows her mama doesn't love her. Her mother, Tracey,  won't pick up Dana. She won't cuddle. She sees her as just plain ugly. It's so sad I want to rush and pick up Dana myself.

"Six weeks had past and Mama still had not touched me. She was..."

The Catcher In The Rye by J.D. Salinger

Holden talks about The Stork Club in THE CATCHER IN THE RYE. I had never heard of the club. If I had heard of it, wasn’t sure whether it was a “real” place. By golly, it is a real place.
They probably thought movie stars always hung out in the Lavender Room when they came to New York, instead of the the Stork Club or El Morocco and all.”

Cont. Catcher In The Rye by J.D. Salinger

I think Holden is looking for a perfect world. The imperfections in the world drive him nuts. Guys have pimples on their faces. People don’t always have good manners. He notices a lady on the train. She puts her bag in the middle of the aisle where anyone can fall over it. That suitcase in the aisle gets on Holden’s last nerve. What else? Young people die. Guys take advantage of girls. In other words sex is everything to guys. Holden notices all of this and it drives him around the bend a couple of times. I guess it’s better to accept a flawed world. Then, you can relax. Holden is so totally not relaxed. He’s uptight, nervous. I don’t think he ever really had fun. He can’t even throw a snowball. He’s afraid of messing up what’s outside his window.
I want Holden to throw the snowball. Please throw the snowball Holden.
Almost everytime somebody gives me a present, it ends up making me sad.”
That’s so sad. He can’t even enjoy a gift without…. Holden’s lesson for me is don’t “sweat the small things.” Live life just live.

The Catcher in The Rye by J D Salinger

I like Holden. He’s been through a lot of stuff. His younger brother died of Leukemia. I think the death really blew his mind. He broke out all the windows in his parents’ garage. He wanted to break out the car windows too. He totally lost it. I think he lost his “whole” mind. He couldn’t save his brother. I just wonder whether he blamed himself for the death. While reading Salinger’s book, I ask myself what’s normal and what’s abnormal. Most people would not react to a death in the way that Holden reacted. Some people would grow stone cold quiet for days, months, years. Some people would cry and cry and cry…Holden went beserk. He shattered property. He broke his hand. He can’t make a fist any more. I think normalcy involves a time limit. How long do I….? There is a season and time for everything.

"I probably wouldn't told her what really happened, but it would've taken too long."
