In Tate's (1953) last major poem, "The buried lake", the anagogic images of redemption are grounded in this nature and through them the Dantean drama of a restored Eden (a higher pastoral) is enacted.

"Airplanes piqued his anagogic and analogical side, from the natural world toward heaven, which these flying machines came close to bumping into."

1a.analogical
analogical - expressing, composed of, or based on an analogy; "the analogical use of a metaphor"
figurative, nonliteral - (used of the meanings of words or text) not literal; using
 figures of speech; "figurative language"

2.deltoid
shaped like a delta; triangular

"...Then pushed up the window's stiff curtain at his right, peering down at blinking lights on the plane's silvery deltoid wing, and beyond that to the waters of Lake Michigan."

I think I've heard deltoid used in reference to a muscle but anagogic is totally new to me.

You're quite right Kathy. There definitely is a deltoid muscle, it's the triangular shaped muscle that goes over your shoulder into the upper arm. I didn't know anagogic either.
