I liked the book because of the daily moments that can happen to any person. It proved to me that dramatic happenings do not necessarily prove that a person has lived a good and purposeful life. The real former employees of The Crestmont Inn described it by saying "the stars do shine a little brighter here, the lake is purer, the air fresher, the wild flowers more abundant, the people friendlier; and life moves inexorably slower..."
I am grateful to Holly Weiss for separating fiction from fact. I especially loved the Native American legend that surrounds the name Eagle's Mere.
